The Santini-Stewart House, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was built on land purchased in 1828 by John Blight Byrne, a wealthy New Orleans merchant and was the last home of Confederate General A.P. Stewart. Joseph Santini purchased the home in 1867, which remained in the family's hands until 1972. The simple but appealing design is perhaps the earliest example of the " American Cottage " in Biloxi.
