Opened as Madison's first bed and breakfast in April of 1985, Annie's is an inviting cedar shake and stucco home in the craftsman style, overlooking a beautiful valley view of Warner Park with the eastern shore of Lake Mendota nearby. Tall green spruces, shaggy hemlocks and flowering dogwoods surround the house, gardens, gazebo, and pond, framing lovely views of the wildness of the park.
The 1850s landmark and Annex addition are surrounded by native gardens and mature trees. Just minutes from the Capitol, State Street and the UW, the inn is located in a great neighborhood with nearby shops and restaurants. Breakfast is served in a soaring great room with massive recycled Douglas-fir timbers, an open staircase and a high-efficiency wood-burning hearth. Our breakfast menus are planned by combining seasonal ingredients with time-honored family recipes. Organic coffee and fresh-squeezed orange juice are always on the menu. Eight well-appointed guest rooms range from the spacious, yet simple, to the ultra-luxury romantic. The inn is amenity- rich with Aveda products, organic cotton mattresses, complimentary beverages, a social hour with appetizers, free mountain bikes and canoeing, and an invigorating sauna. Are we green? Well, we use odor-free detergent on all our sheets and towels, serve a plethora of organic dishes and fruit, and use energy efficient light bulbs. Our BAIN hot-tub utilizes a non-bacteria producing water distribution system negating the need for bleach or chlorine cleaning. Our radiators are quiet, clean and effective.
